These three films were made between 2015 and 2017 in the Bulgarian village of Rupkite.

​

The films were collaborations with local people. Most of the younger people typically return only for weekends or holidays, having left to order to find work and live in the towns. Children typically live in towns and cities with their parents during most of the year and spend their summer holidays in the village with their grandparents.

 

Many of the older generation continue to live a traditional rural life.

Living according to the seasons is how many people survive, as growing food to suppliment meagre incomes is essential

Elemental is a film about artist, Caroline Hart who now lives in the village. Her work often portrays or documents the traditional patterns of a rural way of life, fast disappearing, and the people and animals who live there.
